TechFest 2008

We attended the Techfest 2008 at Makati Shangri-La Hotel. The said event tackles the launching of the latest/newest technology of Microsoft that last for about 9 hours. Microsoft products are being used by different IT companies and that includes the company I am working at. The event was nice and informative because the speakers are good. They introduced to us the new functionalities of each software and even demo to us how it works and for us to really understand it. The softwares they have right now is very many to enumerate. Some are being used already and some is not being used because it has less exposure. But in this event, they focus on what the Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 can do that others are not capable of. The said softwares will be released by April this year. They also have a brief background of softwares like Expressions Blend and Silverlight which is being used by graphic artist or the one that creates the User Interface (UI)/look for the developed system/program/web application. And the great thing about the event is that it is free to all IT professionals. They also have prizes in the end of the event that includes training vouchers sponsored by different training partners of Microsoft. Hope I can attend the next Techfest and win some of their prizes! hehe

After that event, we still stayed at the hotel for a while and take some pictures for remembrance. Here are some of our pictures and pictures taken of the place:

Bohol Or Hongkong?

This is really a hard decision to make 'coz I want to go either Bohol or Hongkong...
Hmmmm...(thinking)

In Bohol, my officemates and I have already made a plan on when and how we are going to get there. We also have a list of tourist attractions there and even the allocation of activities per day. We are planning to have a 3day vacation by March exploring the beauty of nature in Bohol. I am already excited and looking forward to it. I want to see the Chocolate Hills, tarsiers, Hinagdanan cave, Loboc River and so much more.. All of the places we planned to go is posted in Ardee's Chronicles

In Hongkong, my family is also planning for a vacation there this coming summer. We are not yet talking so much about it so I think it is not possible to happen... We also don't have plans and to think that I don't have a passport yet..waaa! I don't even have that much savings to go there. But I really wanted to go to Disney Land and Hello Kitty's Kingdom.

So what will I choose now?
Is it Bohol where we already have plan or Hongkong where I can be with my family?
I do not have that much money to go two places at the same month/year. So I have to choose only one... t__t

Awan Ti Danum...

Grabe! Wala kame tubig kahapon... Waaaa... :(

Good news is may mga fire truck na nagpunta sa barangay namin para mag supply ng tubig. Thank God! Hayun.. lahat ng tao nagsilabasan at nag unahan para makakuha ng water at isa ako dun.. For the mean time, kailangan ko maging amazona para magbuhat ng balde baldeng tubig... Di niyo ma-imagine noh.. haha.. Pero sa awa ng Diyos at sa tulong ng kapitbahay namin, nakaipon kame ng 3 malaking container and 3 timbang tubig... :)

Another good news and bad news is... after nung pagod and hirap namin sa pag-igib ng tubig nung hapon na iyon eh nagkaroon din ng tubig kinagabihan... Ang saya noh! pinagod lang kme... Sana di na lang kame nagpakapagod kung magkakaroon din pala ng tubig. Haaay... Ang sakit tuloy ng katawan ko ngayon... :(

Beware of these taxicabs (WALLIS, ROMCAT, LUCKY 8) in the Philippines

Just to give you a warning, avoid ridingcabs with names like Wallis,Romcat,Lucky8. All these taxis are owned byjust one family and most of its driversare muggers, rapists or simplyswindlers. According to the driver whois the source of this information, heused to work for the said company butlasted for only 2 days since he couldntbear the idea of manggagantso".

He said there is no single unit of thiscompany that doesnt cheat. Each andevery car that they own has "batingting"that is used to manipulate the taxi meter.

Further, the driver also informed thatthe owners hire anyone even if theperson ha s a criminal record. As amatter of fact, the owners are fullyaware of their drivers' misconduct yetthey turn a blind eye on it coz whatmatters most to them is the boundary oftheir drivers that's to be given to themat the end of the day.

He also said that prior to leaving, hefound out that one of his co-driversmugged his passenger and even touchedher private parts.

When the passenger filed a legalcomplaint about it, naturally the drivergot apprehended but was released becauseof bail. Immediately the next day, thevery same criminal was hired back bytheir company and was out driving hisunit again.

He said you will be able to recognizethe taxi units of this company even atnight since their taxi logos on top oftheir roof has a unique lighting.Instead of the usual yellow light on the"taxi" sign, theirs are red.

Prior to writing this, there was aresearch about the taxi company and itwas found out that they have beenfeatured in one of the shows in GMA-7(Imbestigador). Indeed they have proventhat the drivers of this company areswindlers and muggers.
